In the lone match of the postponed matchday, it was the battle of the relegation zone teams. The match was critical for both teams to take themselves out of relegation. A win was a must for both teams as a draw would keep both teams in their current position.
Burnley (0) vs. Watford (0)
Watford played their first match under new manager Roy Hodgson. They hoped that he could provide them with the “new manager” boost. It seemed that Watford was provided just that. They double their opponents in chances on goal. Late in the first half, Watford had a glorious chance at opening the scoring when their corner kick was mismanaged by Burnley in the box and was nearly redirected in goal by a Burnley player. A questionable handball by the Clarets just before the halftime whistle should have led to a penalty kick for Watford but the referee thought otherwise. In the second half, both teams traded chances on goal but none could find the back of the goal. The match ended in the most unwanted fashion by both teams, keeping them both in danger of being relegated.
